Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will my flowers change colour?
While dried flowers retain much of their natural beauty, some colour and tone changes are to be expected over time. Natural fading and fluctuations may occur after the drying process, as dried flowers differ slightly from their fresh counterparts. The art of flower preservation captures their form and delicate charm, creating a timeless vintage appeal as the blooms gracefully age. Here’s what you might notice: White and Cream Blooms: May develop an antique or tea-stained hue. Foliage: Certain greenery may darken or take on subtle brown tones. Pink and Purple Blossoms: Colours may soften, brighten, or deepen slightly. Purple Blooms: Vibrancy may shift, either lightening or darkening. Red Blooms: Often transform into burgundy, deep purplish-red, or even a rich dark chocolate tone, with variability occurring in around 90% of cases.
  • Can I preserve any type of flower?
While most traditional wedding flowers preserve beautifully, some exceptions exist. Flowers such as succulents, chrysanthemums, and white lisianthus are not recommended for preservation due to their unique structures or colour tendencies. Additionally, it’s important to note that the preservation process can make blooms more delicate, and a few flowers may not withstand the process. Despite this, the overall arrangement is thoughtfully crafted to ensure a stunning and lasting keepsake.
  • How long will the flowers last?
Flowers are a natural product and will naturally age over time. Proper care is essential to ensure the longevity of your preserved flowers. Factors such as sunlight, humidity, and heat exposure can significantly affect their durability. To extend the life of your preserved flowers, we recommend the following care tips: Avoid direct sunlight: Do not display your preserved flowers in direct sunlight or near heat sources like fireplaces, heating vents, or spotlights/lamps. Choose stable environments: Avoid placing your frame in rooms with extreme temperature or humidity fluctuations, such as bathrooms or attics. Gentle cleaning: When cleaning the glass, avoid spraying window cleaners directly onto it. Instead, spray onto a soft cloth and gently wipe the surface. Consider UV protection: Opt for UV ArtGlass for additional protection against fading and damage caused by exposure to sunlight.
  • How long does the preservation process take?
Our preservation process typically takes between 4–6 weeks after receiving your flowers. However, this timeline may vary slightly based on the type of flowers and any customisations required. If adjustments to our standard offerings or frames are needed, additional time may be required to ensure your keepsake is crafted to perfection.
  • How quickly do you need the flowers?
The sooner we receive your flowers, the better the preservation results will be. If you are unable to drop them off to us on the Gold Coast, we may be able to arrange a pick-up service for a small fee. Alternatively, you can use Australia Post to express post your flowers to us. We will discuss drop-off or pick-up options in detail at the time of booking to ensure a smooth and convenient process.
  • What is I change my mind and want to cancel the booking?
Once your booking has been confirmed with a deposit, we do not offer refunds for change of mind. Frames are ordered from our framing vendor as soon as your booking is secured to minimise delays, making the deposit non-refundable. If you decide to cancel before sending us your flowers, we will cancel your booking, and no further charges will apply.
  • How should I pack the flowers for sending
We've created a document to answer this question and it goes into a lot of detail describing how to pack your flowers for shipping to us.
  • How should I care for my flowers before handing them over to you?
Bouquets are often out of water for an extended period on the wedding day, so whenever you have a chance, place them back in water to keep them fresh! At the end of the event, remember to store your flowers in water and keep them in a cool place. If possible, consider including a centrepiece or bridesmaids' bouquet with your delivery. Providing extra flowers gives us the opportunity to substitute any damaged blooms with ones in better condition, ensuring the best possible result for your preserved arrangement.
  • What if the flowers are lost or damaged in transit?
If flowers are lost or damaged during transit, Cherished Blooms cannot be held responsible for any delays, losses, or damages caused by the postal service, as this is unfortunately beyond our control. Fortunately, in 99% of cases, flowers arrive in good condition. Damaged Flowers: If your flowers arrive damaged, we will take photos and contact you immediately to discuss the next steps. Lost Flowers: In the event of lost flowers, you will need to contact the postal service to investigate. Once more information is available, we can work together to decide how to proceed.
  • How do you return the completed product?
Unless collection or pickup is specifically requested and agreed upon during the booking process, your completed frame will be shipped to the address provided at the time of booking. Once your piece is completed, a flat rate postage fee of $180.00 will be applied. Insurance can be added for an additional $100 if desired. The return postage cost will be included on your final invoice and must be paid along with the total balance. Please note that return postage is always the customer’s responsibility and is available within Australia only.
